Through several wearable muslins I didn't get around to writing about, I now have a very good version of a woven bra, but it's good to know there are other options out there. :-)Hana - Marmotahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03532515160608083460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1569751889486479823.post-58721390343279807262023-08-28T16:45:57.977+02:002023-08-28T16:45:57.977+02:00Hi there, I don't know how urgent your bra woe...Hi there, I don't know how urgent your bra woes still are, but AFI Atelier (that have made the Maya pattern you linked above) have a new pattern, the Reverie, that is very much like that M&S bra in the picture above. You could make that of cotton or some other natural fiber, then cut the back band larger and put some encased elastic in it. Maybe that helps.Lydianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1569751889486479823.post-4655172695733046162021-12-12T21:36:14.804+01:002021-12-12T21:36:14.804+01:00Lovely! But also it took me years to finally take this to an "it's happening" stage, so I totally understand not getting around to. ;-)
It's incredible how much nicer my wearable muslin is to wear! In general! (Custom fit is custom fit, even if it's in need of further improvement.) But especially when it's hot! I'm definitely fully committed to this project now and want a number of these because it makes such a difference in my overall comfort - and they don't even use that much material or take that long to sew!
I have basically straight up health reasons for doing this. But I'm also excited about it in general because... um, yeah, it's WAY nicer in summer and... can you imagine, when I sort out my pattern I can make myself bras in LINEN!!!
:D
And I want to document the project in as much detail as possible because it's an alternative you don't see much being said about, yet I can't be the only person out there who would be more comfortable with 100% natural fibres next to my skin!Hana - Marmotahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03532515160608083460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1569751889486479823.post-30828506053588428032021-07-02T15:33:33.781+02:002021-07-02T15:33:33.781+02:00Interesting project, bras in natural fibers would ...Interesting project, bras in natural fibers would be really nice during heat waves like this summer. I wish you the best of luck, and thanks for sharing your thought process! I had a bra with the front made of a single layer of woven fabric (cotton/poly, thought), I thought of reproducing it but never got around to.
